Do you have any idea how scarce new bloggable fast food chicken icons have become? I think I have written about most of the fast food chickens in the southern United States. There is one more that I know of, but it is a bit of a road trip from here, and with the price of gas these days, it is going to have to wait until I have some other business in the Bachman Lake area of Dallas.
Anyway, here we have El Pollo Alegre, also known as The Glad Chicken. You can find her in the old section of McKinney, in a predominantly Hispanic section of town (I think). I always say, if you want good Mexican food, go where Mexican people go for Mexican food (you can swap out any nationality for "Mexican" in that sentence, as long as you are consistent in your substitution). So I think I will be having some El Pollo Allegre soon.
Look at her, in her striped apron or dress, obviously aware of what is about to happen to her poor chicken neck. Eeek! On the other hand, maybe she is calling out to her family, "Hey, soup's on!" Just as long as it isn't chicken noodle.
Ah yes, The Glad Chicken.
Perhaps mostly glad that she has made her peace with God!
