I used to like, or at least tolerate the Geico insurance commercials.

You know the ones: the little green gecko parks in the employee of the month spot. Everyone in the office talks him up.

It was just okay when he started to be part of the family, sleeping in the back seat with the kids on the long car trips, etc.

The next commercial was kind of sick, with all those dogs making romantic eyes at the stupid slimy reptile from passing cars. Ewww!

Then, here is where it goes downhill rapidly: the gecko has a British accent. And a pansy one at that! And, for some reason, he sings "Kung Fu Fighting". Gaa!

A number of years ago, I belonged to an organization which included a great cross section of people. This included a drunken old sot named Jack. He and his incredibly long-suffering wife used to hang out and drink in the smoking hospitality lounge, where Jack would drink too much, call people the "F" word, foam at the mouth, and just fall down in a general alcoholic haze. Jack used to rave, while plastered, about the great auto insurance rates he got from Geico.

I figure if Geico is insuring Jack, I'll just stay with State Farm.
